In its methodological handbook about eco-friendly product/packaging pairs, the CNE recalled that one of the six key aspects of any developing processes is taking into account how the consumer and end user will use the product. There is no unique packaging solution for a given product: you need to know the expectations and capabilities of the consumer in order to define the packaging characteristics, including its shape, materials and weight.
