1- Can you introduce us to your role and the business of LivingPackets?
Founded in 2016, LivingPackets develops and markets smart, reusable delivery packaging with a connected digital label and embedded logistics services. Smart delivery packaging gives businesses and users access to new reuse services to achieve zero waste. The intelligence at the heart of the packaging allows to optimize all the logistic services and to create new usages for the users. LivingPackets has been selected in the mapping of startups with social and environmental impact, carried out by France Digitale and Bpifrance Le Hub. The company was also awarded the Laureate trophy by the France Relance plan to support the development and production of THE BOX. The company has also been twice awarded at CES 2020 and 2021 and has obtained the Solar Impulse label.
2- You participated in our last morning CNE PACK FOCUS on the challenges and opportunities for packaging in E-commerce, can you summarize your intervention around The Box:
LivingPackets is today nearly 70 engineers with whom we innovate together in the field of packaging and logistics.
With THE BOX, we are developing what will soon be the ideal packaging.
– Reusable packaging because resources dictate it
– Secure packaging for guaranteed delivery
– An intelligent packaging to allow autonomous logistics
– Packaging with a self-adapting label in real time to optimize the routes and eliminate unnecessary returns
– Packaging that immediately enables the digitalization of logistics without major investments
After 3 years of research and over 46 patents, this packaging exists and we have traveled over 1 million kms with our first customers in 2022.
Equipped with an intelligent label that adapts to all forms of packaging, this intelligent packaging allows tracking of routes, temperature, humidity, shocks, a traceability already active in more than 135 countries.
Thanks to the collected data, logistic optimizations are visible, and we integrate autonomous intelligence into this label.
Intelligent reusable packaging is seen today as the next digital transformation for customers.
The packaging is the one and only element that crosses the logistics ecosystem from its point of departure to its point of arrival and its tracking allows the creation of a continuous logistics information chain without any white zone, a real secure logistics blockchain based on new services.
China has already imposed a minimum of 30% reusable packaging delivery since 1st of January 2022 in all sectors, from industry to trade, packaging and logistics intelligence is the key point to achieve 100% autonomous logistics and promote the circulation. Packaging reuse promotes the circular economy at all levels, businesses, trade, exchanges and the second life market.
-
Three major challenges for LivingPackets for a sustainable logistics?
– To develop 100% recyclable reusable solutions according to the 3R label validated with THE BOX.
– Providing customers and companies with real traffic services, integrated into the packaging, because a reusable product will only be reused if it offers services to customers.
– To highlight the ways of global optimization by knowledge of the routes, by the reduction of the breakages, losses and thefts.
-
Three sources of opportunity for LivingPackets for product packaging and delivery with less environmental impact?
– Accelerate the reduction of delivery packaging waste.
– Promote the use of reusable solutions to encourage the act of reuse without compromise, circulation with standard form solutions.
– Consider logistics as a potential in both directions: Distribution and Circulation by recovery.
3- What are the concerns of LivingPackets that the CNE could investigate in the framework of working groups or any other information mode (information morning, etc.)?
Intelligent packaging provides an unexplored source of information, as packaging is the one and only element that crosses the logistics ecosystem from the point of departure to the point of arrival.
The control of packaging allows the digitization of the logistics ecosystem simply by its use. We want to work with CNE to highlight the full potential of using packaging in the hands of consumers who are all looking for useful and responsible solutions.
Packaging alone represents the future of logistics and delivery services for a planet where reuse is essential and urgent.
